Meet Sana - India's AI News Anchor

Following China's AI-powered news programs, Indian media group 'India Today' has also followed suit by introducing a female AI anchor 'Sana' to its audience.

The development in mainstream media comes after artificial intelligence management robots have proven to be more efficient and allow a smaller workforce to produce satisfactory results.

India Today Group vice-chairman Kalli Purie launched the AI bots during the India Today 2023 conclave. Purie described Sana as a "smart, gorgeous, ageless, tireless" robot who can "speak multiple languages" and is "completely" under his control.

Aaj Tak AI's Sana will launch next week and will bring daily news multiple times a day in multiple languages. The new show will also see Sana discuss and explain a specific topic daily and also engage the audience to ask questions.

While this may seem like a setback for many human anchors who have spent years in the media, Purie assured that Sana "doesn't take the brilliance of real anchors" as they "will mentor her".

"Sana will soon have a replacement editor and hopefully a company," Purie suggested.

The VP's hopeful and positive approach to the interweaving of AI and humans stems from his understanding of the future as "both fascinating and terrifying."

Talking about how the media is constantly being criticized, Purie was concerned about the pressure from political parties, business houses, foreign governments and larger-than-life professionals, but believes that "this is nothing new and asserted that India Today has never compromised its story. narrates.

"Our credibility is important to us," Purie noted.

The 20th edition of the India Today Conclave was launched on Friday and is being held at the Taj Palace in New Delhi.
