In nature it is widely available in plant sources by imparting various shades of colors, most typically red and pink. It’s found in fruits like tomatoes, watermelon and other citrus fruits.  The studies showed its antioxidant properties. Therefore, it has been widely applied in food industries as food coloring agent.
